Terrible twos and happy things as well

Terrible twos has struck once again, but this time I think it is more of the real thing. I think Audrey goes in spurts, but she sure has thrown me through a loop this time around and made life very difficult. I don't know if it is because I'm pregnant and my patience wears down quicker, but just in the last couple of weeks she has developed a whole new sassy attitude. I guess it is a good thing for her to be independent and be able to state her opinion, but she sure gets sassy.. Lately if she does not want to wear something she does not wear it and will throw a fit if I even make her try. I am starting to learn to just let her choose what she wants to wear, or ask her if she will wear something. If she does not like it she will say No a couple of times, grab it and throw it to the floor and run away. I am trying to teach her to be nicer to her clothes and other such items like her toys, books etc. But she just does not seem to listen until I tell her multiple times in a row to be soft and I even show her how to be with her items. I know she is two and has a very short attention span, but she does not seem to mind, or listen very well lately. She not only throws her clothes to the ground lately, but she seems to be a little more ruff with her toys and gets mad at them. I don't know why this is, but I'm hoping it is just a phase. I think sometimes she is frustrated, because she is two and sometimes it is hard for a child to express exactly how they feel. But Audrey does not have a hard time communicating, because she speaks in sentences very well and has a wide vocabulary and she seems to understand things and she tells me usually what she wants. She always loves playing with her baby dolls and is usually really good with them, because I have taught her to be nice to them, but once in a while she will get mad at them and say no and tap them on the head, or throw them to the ground. I make her say sorry to them and pick them up and if she is still mean to them I tell her that they have to be put away, if she can't treat them nicely.. I really do not know where she picked a lot of this behavior up from lately, but I know sometimes she has little tizz fits with other kids, but not to often . But believe me as parents we are very gentle with her and turn to other forms of discipline, like time out, or taking something away if she can't be nice to it. Also, she has been very picky about what she eats lately as well, when she used to eat quite a variety of foods and now it is quite limited. She will tell me she wants to eat a certain food and I will open it up for her and then she will give me that good sassy "No" I don't want it and then she will say she wants something else, I open that and she will not eat that as well. She has not seemed to have much of an appetite lately either and I have tried giving her favorite foods, just to get her to eat because I worry about her not getting enough nutrition and she even will turn some of her favorite foods down as well. She is not really big on trying new foods and I try to offer her different kinds of foods and she just runs away. It is very frustrating when she refuses to eat and she always still seems to have so much energy for a while. But then seems to have a break down later if she has not eaten and then she will eat.... I do not try and force her to eat, but I do help her eat if she will let me. Sometimes she likes eating on her own, sometimes she just simply pushes the meal away when I put it down in front of her during meal time. She also has that great tantrum throwing down and she is good at it, but I try not to pay attention to her when she throws those, because it just helps her know she can get attention when she behaves like that and that is not what I want her to learn from throwing tantrums. I do try and talk to her at first and ask her what she wants, but she just screams and says her favorite word right now "no'. One other thing she has been doing lately is she will run up to me and just hit me for no good reason... She knows this behavior is not allowed and she will say sorry mommy after I tell her that she is not supposed to do that. But then she comes back a second time and that's when she has to be put in time out... I don't want to say that my little girl is naughty, because she really is so sweet at times as well. I think that she is just trying to test the waters right now and seeing what she can get away with, which is not much when it comes to naughty behavior. I have started reading about discipline and getting a child to behave better and I am using some of those techniques and this past week, she has seemed to be a little bit better. Like if she really wants something that she is not supposed to have, I just simply change the subject to something else and she usually will respond to that. But she does have a good memory and will try and get the same thing later, even when it is out of sight. I don't know who said out of sight, out of mind because Audrey does not seem to forget things for a long time.. Like days, to weeks sometimes. Well enough about all the negative things in my daughter's life I just need to vent, because I have been very frustrated and stressed from her behavior lately.
I will talk about the positive things now, which I'm hoping will be as long as my negative terribly two's post.
I guess I can post about Audrey's Easter experience. This year Easter was a lot more fun, because Audrey seemed to get more excited about what she got and finding things. In Audrey's Easter Basket she of course had candy, which Sean and I ate later on because she does not have much of a sweet tooth. Thank goodness!! She got a big lollipop and really enjoyed that. She got a kite, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, coloring book and crayons and a hula hoop. She really enjoyed flying her kite and had fun trying to blow the bubbles on her own, even though it was kind of a mess. She really is so imaginative now when it comes to coloring, or using sidewalk chalk. She will tell me that she is drawing certain things like a shark, dinosaur, flower, smiley face, butterfly, bird, etc. and just scribbles, but I think it is so cute that she is imagining things and trying to be creative. She knows about sharks, because she watches Nemo sometimes and she plays with dinosaurs at her cousins house. She loves to draw smiley faces and some of her shapes, but we are still working on those. =) Audrey seems to be talking more and more every day and she can really say any word now and has good pronunciation. She speaks in sentences all the day long and sometimes chats my ear off, but really she has a cute high pitched voice and is to irresistable not to listen to. I love just watching her play pretend with her toys and just seeing what she is thinking. She loves to play with play doh and loves to color whenever she gets a chance.
Audrey loves to sing and knows multiple songs now like: Twinkle, twinkle little star, row row row your boat, The itsy bitsty spider, Abc's, popcorn popping on the apricot tree and many other songs I can not think of right now, but really I guess she has known a lot of those songs for quite sometime. She does have quite the little singing voice and I don't think I will ever get sick of it, because it is so cute to listen to her. I am trying to teach her to count to twenty right now, because she has been counting to ten for about a year now, so I decided to start and she is starting to pick up on the numbers fairly fast. I tried teaching her a while ago to count to twenty and she started to mix her numbers up, so we just kept to ten, but now she seems like she is doing better now that she is older.
Audrey loves going to the park to play and she will swing in the swing forever, but loves to go down the slides as well and just run around like a typical kid. I feel so blessed to have such a healthy child who is such a spirited little thing and curious about learning new things all the time. I guess her learning experiences in life have taught me great lessons as a mother and challenges have arised, but we usually seem to get past them. I'm happy to be Audrey's mother and I love her so much and I don' t know where I would be with out her in my life. I posted some picture of her from Easter at the top of this post, so enjoy. I love how her hair turned out that day and I thought her dress was darling. Thanks! To her grandma for buying it for her.

Its officially a ....

We found out that we are having a BOY and are so EXCITED!!!!!!!

We already have a name picked out for the little guy. It will be Adam Moylen Young.
The middle name will be after Sean's grandpa's name and his first name is after Sean's cousin who is also his best friend. We have discussed this name for about three years and Sean was really set on naming our first boy Adam. We asked Audrey today if she wanted to have a little brother and she said "okay". We know she will be a great big sister and will enjoy having a baby around. I am happy that we now have a little baby boy coming into our family and feel so blessed. Anyways, I don't know an official due date, because my ultrasound said that I the baby would come on Sept. 9th. According to when my last menstrual cycle was the baby will be due August 30th, but before that my OBGYN had told me August 21st. For right now we are just going to stick to August 30th, because an ultrasound is not always precise either. Sean is happy that we are having a baby boy as well and we feel like our family is complete for the time being.

Updates

Updates on pregnancy
I decided that I need to blog about something because my last post was from when I was pregnant in the first trimester and I was a little sour towards it back then. I am nearly 18 weeks along this Sunday and should be finding out the sex of the baby within a week, or two hopefully. I am feeling much better and happier towards my pregnancy now and have a lot more energy, so I try not to gripe about things as much. I am starting to show a little bit, but my stomach looks more like I have a pooch and not a pregnancy belly yet..... It still does not feel quite real to me that another baby is coming yet, but I think it will once I get a little bigger and I start to feel the baby. =) I don't have any pictures, but I will post some later when I get big which will not be long, because I usually pop out in the 5th month.

Update o Audrey
She is doing really good and is learning and growing more and more each day. Just recently Audrey discovered her shadow and in the mornings she will go and jump on our bed when the light is out and the curtains are still closed and play with her shadow. Usually there is just a little bit of light flowing in, so that makes it perfect for her. She will jump and giggle and touch her shadow on the wall and it is the sweetest, funniest thing. Just the other day she went up to her shadow and said "Hi shadow, It's Audrey! ha ha just to cute. Other things that Audrey has learned out to do so well lately is pedaling on her little tricycle, but she has been doing really well with that since January. She is starting to tell Sean and I when she is ready for bed and she goes down without a fuss, but she has to have a gazillion toys with her..
We are getting ready to put her in a toddler bed, but I am a little nervous for how that will work out. Because she will be free to get out of bed whenever she wants, but she seems ready to move to a big girl bed. Any advice please give, because I don't think this is going to be an easy transition. I think she will like a big girl bed, but I' m wondering if it will be hard to keep her in the new bed at night.
Update on Sean
Sean is doing good these days and seems like he is ready for the semester to end. I think he gets kind of burnt out from all the pointless paperwork his professor's assign him, because he does not feel like he is learning much of anything from it. It will be better when he is in his Master's program and he can have more of a focus point towards what he is going to become in the future. Right now Sean is keeping his eyes open for different job opportunities in the nursing field and we are hoping he gets a job he applied to a week in a half ago. Because it would be really nice because it is salary based, no nights, no weekends, or holidays. We will just keep our fingers crossed and hopefully he will get it. =) He really is such a good husband/Dad and takes such good care of Audrey and I. He is always there to help me when he is at home and does not complain when I ask him for help with something. He helps me clean quite often and does chores, like the laundry, dishes, garbage duty and other things. I can't complain about that at all, but I do appreciate it so much!! Thanks babe! You are such a good husband and Dad. Oh one thing I forgot to mention about Audrey and her Daddy is she is becoming more of a daddy's girl lately, it is really sweet. She loves her daddy so much and asks for him repeatably when he leaves for work, or school and loves hanging out with him when he is home.
Anyways, I guess that almost wraps up everything I have to say. If you are still reading this far and I have not bored you, then I just want to say thanks for reading our blog.

Expecting.......

EXPECTING!!!!
Well I'm sure you can all guess what that means we are expecting a second child. I am about 14 weeks pregnant and due August 21st. I am actually getting just a little belly, so I figure the people who don't know already will begin to figure it out. At this point I am almost done with the first trimester and I can't wait to get more energy like most pregnant woman do in the second trimester. This time around being pregnant has exhausted me mentally and physically more then it did the first time around. I had morning sickness worse with the first pregnancy, but I got to sleep whenever I wanted.. Having a child already changes that and the fatigue really just wears on me and is making it hard for me to want to do anything really.. I am trying to be excited about this pregnancy, but right now I am having a hard time facing it. I know pregnancy is not always easy, so I am trying to stay positive about it and life. But I admit that I am struggling right now and hope for a burst of energy and to be more happy soon.
Any guesses on what you think the gender of the baby will be? I think that it is going to be a boy. My reason is I feel it and I had a dream about having a baby boy and holding him in my arms and it felt so real. I know people think that having dreams don't always mean something, but with Audrey I felt from the very beginning she was a girl and 3 days before we had her ultrasound I had a dream and even saw that she was a little girl. Well I guess only an ultrasound will be able to give me the final results, so I will keep you posted.
POTTY TRAINED!!!!!
Anyways, besides all that commotion we potty trained Audrey this last week within three-four days she was potty trained and I am so proud of her. The first two days were terrible, but the 3rd day it was like a light bulb clicked inside her head and she has been going ever since and is in little girl underwear. Hooray!! No more stinky diapers, until our next babe is born. Well we still put her in a diaper at night, but that is to prevent any accidents in case she goes in the night. Sometimes she actually will wake up in the night and let us know she needs to go potty. We have been trying on and off for the the last ten months to get her to go potty, so it is exciting that she has finally picked up on it.

Brush brush brush your teeth!

Audrey loves to brush her teeth, which is amazing to me. The only thing she hates is when I take over the toothbrush and deep clean her teeth for her. It is really cute because I sing a song to her while she brushes her teeth and that makes it a little more enjoyable for her. The song goes something like this "Brush, brush, brush your teeth brush them nice and clean da da da da da brush them nice and clean". I like to sing to her a lot, because she really seems to pick up on things when we sing and learns words really fast. I don't know when I'm suppose to take her to the dentist for the first time, but I hope she has no cavities when we do go. Hopefully all the brushing of her teeth will pay off.

Have a Happy New Year!!!

I am so excited for the new year! Why? Because a bunch of my favorite T.V. series will be airing in January. I am a fan of Lost, Kyle XY and I am actually excited for 24 as well. Sometimes 24 can be a little to much for me, because it is can get very violent. But I watched 24 redemption with Sean tonight and it just got my adrenaline going to know what was going to happen next. I guess I'm hooked for now. Usually, we can just record our shows with DVR and watch them when Audrey is asleep, so that helps out. Anyways, that is all I am really looking forward to with the new year approaching. I usually don't make new years resolutions, because I never keep to the goals I make. But goodluck to the people that do have goals they are hoping to reach. I hope everyone has a happy new year!! I guess it is a little late to post anything about Christmas, but I can say we had a lot of fun and Audrey loved all the new toys she got.

New Car!

So, for those of you who know me (Sean, not Megan), you know that I love Subaru's. A year and a half ago, I found a steal deal: A 2000 Subaru Legacy GT Limited edition which has been, by far, my favorite car of all time.

I've had a Honda Accord and Civic of my own up to this point and have driven many other vehicles and none have compared to this beauty.
Unfortunately, on a trip down to pick up my cousin for a BYU game, I was driving on I-15 southbound coming up on Legacy Parkway (appropraite name for my situation). I looked back in my blind spot to change lanes from the far right lane to the middle lane at the same time a truck in front of me was changing the same lanes. As I was in between both lanes, the truck in front of me swerved and by the time I saw what he swerved out of the way of, I was pretty much on top of it: A old Ford F250 spare tire that had dropped off the bottom of the truck. I tried to swerve without totally flipping my car and, well, didn't have enough room to make it out of the way and BLAM! I smashed into the surprisingly very large spare tire on my front drivers side. Ends up it busted the axle and did enough damage in other places (bumper, fender, tire, etc.) to be determined a total loss. *sniff*.
By the way, I didn't get hurt, in case you cared. Nor did I think the car was really that damaged. Stupid...
In any case, I searched and searched and searched for a Subaru similar to mine to replace it and nobody, I mean NOBODY had anything of the sort. I refuse to get another type of car, because as you Subaru drivers know, once you own a Subaru, you never go back. So I broke down and spent a lot of money (with Megan's permission, of course) on a new car. And, I must say, it was worth it.

It's a beautiful 2005 Subaru Legacy GT Limited (the most luxurious and powerful model). It has 23K miles on it, with a 2.5 liter turbo engine, 250 horse power, and a woppin' 0-60 time of 5.2 seconds. Needless to say, this is now my favorite car of all time. I just thought you all might like to know. I did.

Curly Sue

I curled Audrey's hair this week and it actually turned out really cute! Usually when I curl it her hair just falls out, but this time it stayed. I had to put moose, root booster, and hairspray in her hair and then I blow dried it. Then I curled it and put more hairspray in her hair to make the hair do stay. Poor girl probably had an itchy head. ... I wish I could do this to her hair every day, but I am to lazy.... I know this is not much of a post, but I was really proud of this hair do and I just had to put it up. I can't wait tell her hair gets longer and I can do all sorts of things with it. That is the fun of having a girl, dressing them up and doing their hair. =)

Our Washington Vacation

Audrey was done with the trip at this point, so tired.
All the main roads and basically any road you take is surrounded by trees.
It was really chilly up in the mountains
This log in the picture above me was from a tree cut down in 1964 and was discovered to be 600 yrs old!! It was huge and to think that it was that old, just boggled my mind.

Sean all by himself
My Sister Kandra and her husband Mike and Us.
A Family Picture
My Sister Kandra and Me.
Mt. Rainier, it is about 14,000 feet above sea level, if not more and it is an active Volcano, covered with glaciers and is considered to be one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world. I actually learned a little geography, on my trip.

We went on a hike to this Waterfall in the picture up above and had such a fun time, it was so beautiful. Even though the skies our always overcast, when the sun comes out everything is so green and vibrant. But really the overcast weather made me a little tired sometimes, but being there for a few days got me used to it somewhat... It was sunny sometimes, so that made up for the overcast weather and the rain.
Audrey's Seal Pal, he was so much fun to watch.

Seattle City

Mommy and Audrey Being Silly.

Us on the cruise Ship

A Lion Fish

An Octopus
The awesome Jelly Fish

A Star Fish, so many little tentacles. It was kind of creepy.

Audrey was so happy to wake up from her nap to find this big aquarium in front of her with hundreds of fish.
The Seattle Aquarium had a scuba diver in the tank and the lady scuba diving was telling the children stories about the fish. It was really neat.

On our trip we were able to do so many things, because my sister lives in the area and knows all the fun stuff to do. We went to the Seattle aquarium and saw Jelly Fish, Octopus, Seals and Otters and a variety of fish. Audrey was in fish central and was having a blast, she even got to pet a star fish; which sort of freaked her out. Audrey also made friends with a seal and the big guy came and saw her three times right by the glass outside and would open his mouth and show its teeth, it was so cute. My favorite part of the aquarium was the Jelly Fish, I was so fascinated by there movement and just the way they floated through the water. It was really neat, because they were in this round glass thing that went in a circle above us and to the sides and beneath us, so really I could have sat there for hours just watching.
We went on a tour of Seattle on a small cruise ship around the bay which was about eight miles and it took us about an hour. It was so cold, but so worth it to see all the Seattle.
Also, we were able to visit Mt. Rainer which is actually an active Volcano, but it is covered by glaciers. It was absolutely breathtaking to see this place and all the nature surrounding it. I went with my sister Kandra and her husband Mike, so those are the other two people that you see in some of my photos. Sorry that I posted so many photos, but I just had to show you some of the neat stuff we were able to do. I would totally recommend Washington for a trip if anyone wants to go and have a fun adventure, like we did.
